So I used to drink on the side deck (north! not east according to the review I read) when this place was Mugs n Jugs. I've visited three times since Abe's took over and have been very pleased. Service is a bit slow, but I believe that's because they're taking time to make pretty fresh food.
The photos are just one box of my leftovers made into quesadillas next day...yum.
Can't tell if the stuffed mushrooms are frozen or fresh, but the batter feels fresh. The chicken strips seem fresh made. So do the fish and chips. Can't tell if fries are made from frozen or fresh. Burgers are giant and AWESOME! The brioche buns are really good and fresh. Last night I got a "bowl" with bkackened chicken and black beans and rice... Awesome.
All I can say is that, compared to other restaurants in the neighborhood, this is great quality food. Not the fastest. But tastes great and the portions are over large. They could probably reduce their food costs if they weren't giving me three days of meals in one. I'd pay the same price for a smaller portion. Instead I come home with way more than I could have eaten.
I always eat on the deck so can't comment about the bar or the inside dining, but highly recommend this place. Went last night at 7pm, but by 8 the parking lot was full... Very popular and slightly local. Good experience all around.
Vegetarian options: There are plenty of options on the menu to do vegetarian cuts or replacements and they have many options where picking a protein (meat or fish) is optional. This is a great place for vegetarians to hang with meat eating friends and not feel weird about "specifying" options. They're built in. If you're WFPB, you might have to ask to remove oil and/or other ingredients from some of the vegetarian dishes. No hesitation that they'll easily accommodate.
Parking: When this location hosted another restaurant, I saw a lot of fender benders with people acting like idiots... This is the best, most explanatory parking lot I've ever encountered. All feeds from south to north (once you enter from the north) and there are signs everywhere. I've never actually seen someone break the rules and parking is ample. Great experience.
Kid-friendliness: My 12 yo son loves the deck and has enjoyed the atmosphere, though we come at family friendly times so not a huge deal. He has grown out of the kids menu but we do enjoy the crayons when accidentally provided.
